Who is eligible? Does everyone nominated need to be a member of LTEN?

All awards recognize trainers, organizations, and industry partners for initiatives conducted within the past year. In the case of the 2016 awards, initiatives conducted anytime in 2016 up through February 2017 are eligible. Initiatives that were begun earlier are eligible so long as demonstrable results can be documented in the current award nomination period.

Not everyone who is being listed or nominated for an award needs to be a member. The person submitting the application (nominator) must be a LTEN member and pays the application fee.

What is the time frame for nominations?

November 4, 2016 through January 13, 2017 at 11:59 pm EST – 6 months prior to annual conference.

How do I apply? What’s the difference between “nominator” and “nominee?”

Click here to register and begin your application.

The nominator is the person filling out the form.  For example:  If you are a supplier submitting the award on behalf of a client/customer, you would be the nominator and your client would be the nominee. If you are submitting for your own company, you are the nominator.

A nominee is the person or organization who would be the recognized as the winner if selected. If you are nominating a department, please list the contact person for the department.

What is the judging process? Will the judging be “blind” and how do I submit a blind application?

  • Judging process
    • A panel of judges/award committee has been established for each of the categories of awards to ensure the entries can be judged consistently and fairly.
    • Winners will be determined by averaging scores assigned by judges to each entry. In the event of a tie, a select group of judges will review competing entries to determine winners.
    • Judging to focus on innovation, planning, implementation, and impact. Nominees to provide concrete examples of stellar achievements with samples of their work, if possible.
    • Judging will be blinded in regard to size and type of company to ensure a fair process for all practitioners and providers. Judges will see applications with a numerical identifier.
  • Blind judging simply means that your organization is anonymous to the judges. When submitting “blind” attachments or supporting documents, you are asked to remove or hide references to the organization/person being nominated. Here is a sample plus a few points of clarification:
      • Do NOT include any references to your organization’s name or learning staff on your application and be sure to remove or hide organization references on your photos, screenshots, charts or graphics.
      • We recommend replacing any mention of your organization with a fictional name. See examples below.
      • You may also black-out/white-out any references to your organization.  See examples below.
      • You may designate parts of your answer NFP (not for publication) if you are including information that should not be shared publicly if your training practice is chosen as a winner.

What is the award criteria?

  • The scoring has been set up to be consistent across the award categories and judges will provide numerical scores for each of the following criteria:
    • 9-10 (Breakthrough and/or Role Model): For learning practitioners or supplier companies considered “breakthroughs” and/or “role models” for the learning and development industry. The challenge is considered to be extreme (across an entire industry) or global (large numbers of learners, many stakeholders, very difficult to accomplish), and the nominees have demonstrated role-model leadership.
    • 6-8 (Outstanding): For learning practitioners or supplier companies who did an outstanding job, met or exceeded all of the criteria as described and accomplished all goals. The complexity was significant and/or the nominees demonstrated clear leadership.
    • 3-5 (Meets the criteria): For learning practitioners or supplier companies whose initiatives met the criteria, but did not or could not provide clear or reliable evidence to identify initiatives as breakthrough or outstanding.
    • 1-2 ( Provided some evidence but does not meet the criteria)  For learning practitioners or supplier companies whose initiatives contributed to the criteria, but did not or could not provide clear or reliable evidence to identify initiatives as breakthrough or outstanding
    • 0 (Does not meet the criteria): Did not meet the criteria established or failed to document how the criteria were met.

Will finalists be required to attend the conference?

Finalists are encouraged and invited to attend the conference but it is not a requirement. We would encourage your team to send at least one representative from your organization, if possible, for on-stage recognition.

If awarded, are there duties or requirements expected for me or my organization to perform?

(i.e. attend a certain amount of events? Be a part of the Advisory Committee? Chair subcommittee?)

Winners are not required to participate in any activities, but are strongly encouraged to be present at the annual conference. After the conference, we want to feature the winning organizations and teams and may ask for quotes, pictures or interview to feature in our various communication channels.

We also would love to feature our winners by having them host a future LTEN webinar and share their key to success and winning ideas with LTEN members. Again, this is a request but not a requirement. We respect your time and simply want to highlight your training team’s efforts.
